A Case Report of Cytomegalovirus Gastritis and a Literature Review
Abstract:Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is a DNA virus belonging to the herpesvirus family, with a diameter of approximately 200 nm, and is one of the largest animal viruses. CMV can be transmitted through droplets, urine, and other body fluids, and has strong infectivity, being an important opportunistic pathogen in humans [1]. Primary CMV infection is usually asymptomatic, but when patients are in an immunosuppressive state, reactivation of latent CMV infection may be life-threatening [2]. Patients with inflammatory bowel disease are prone to intestinal CMV infection, but even among immunocompromised patients, CMV infection involving the stomach is very rare [3]. This article presents a systematic review of the literature on CMV gastritis and reports a case of connective tissue disease combined with CMV gastritis. It summarizes the clinical features, diagnostic methods, treatment, and prognosis of this disease, aiming to draw the attention of clinicians and provide some experience and reference for clinical physicians and researchers.
