Expert Consensus on the Diagnosis and Treatment of Postmenopausal Intrauterine Fluid Accumulation (2025 Edition)
Abstract:Postmenopausal intrauterine fluid accumulation refers to the accumulation of fluid in the uterine cavity of postmenopausal women, including simple fluid, purulent fluid, and bloody fluid. Literature reports its incidence rate is 11.8% to 14.1% [1-4], and it increases with age in postmenopausal women. The incidence rates are 9.5% for women aged 60-69, 19.7% for those aged 70-79, 21.29% for those aged 80-89, and 26.39% for those aged 90 and above [2]. In most cases, postmenopausal intrauterine fluid accumulation is asymptomatic and benign, but it may indicate serious health problems, including endometrial lesions or even malignant tumors [5]. Therefore, scientifically and standardly diagnosing and treating postmenopausal intrauterine fluid accumulation is of great significance for ensuring women's health.
