Expert Consensus on the Diagnosis and Treatment of Chronic Endometritis Related to Fertility (2025 Edition)
Abstract:Chronic endometritis (CE) refers to a chronic inflammatory condition characterized by plasma cell infiltration, congestion, edema, increased density of the endometrial stroma, and possible damage to the glandular epithelium. The endometrial epithelium and stroma show developmental asynchrony as the main pathological features [1-2]. Most cases of CE are caused by infectious pathogens, while in some cases, it may result from other chronic irritations. It is generally considered that CE falls within the scope of pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), often being misdiagnosed due to mild and hidden symptoms. In recent years, the impact of CE on reproductive health, such as infertility, repeated embryo implantation failure, and recurrent pregnancy loss, has attracted widespread attention.
