Research Progress on Nonrelaxing Pelvic Floor Dysfunction
Abstract:Nonrelaxing pelvic floor dysfunction (NPFD) is a pelvic floor neuromuscular disorder characterized by abnormal tension and insufficient strength of the pelvic floor muscles, leading to pelvic pain, urinary and bowel dysfunction, and sexual dysfunction [1]. In recent years, there have been certain advances in the epidemiology, pathogenesis, and clinical diagnosis and treatment of NPFD. This article reviews these research progresses, aiming to enhance clinicians' understanding of NPFD, shift the focus of prevention and treatment forward, and improve patients' quality of life.
