Characteristics of the Female Vulva, Microenvironment, and Related Management
Abstract:Health literacy is a crucial determinant of public health. Women's health literacy is an essential component of public health literacy and a key focus for sustainable development. Reproductive-age women, as the most core group within the maternal and child population, require special attention regarding their health literacy, which is vital for their physical and mental well-being. In China, reproductive-age women often have limited knowledge of reproductive health, narrow channels for obtaining reproductive health information, and high prevalence rates of common gynecological diseases. Most current discussions on female reproductive health focus on the vagina, cervix, uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries, with little attention given to the vulva. Unlike the internal reproductive system, the vulva is the external part of the female reproductive organs, with its own unique structure and characteristics. It is easily affected by various endogenous and exogenous factors, and improper care may impact women's physical and mental health. Therefore, vulvar health management is also a key aspect of female reproductive health management. This article will elaborate on aspects such as the characteristics of the female vulva, microenvironment, daily management, menstrual management, and management of vulvar diseases, providing a scientific management plan for vulvar health in female reproductive health.
