Expert Consensus on Early Screening for Ovarian Cancer (2025 Edition)
Abstract:1. Background
Ovarian cancer is one of the most common malignant tumors in the reproductive system among Chinese women. Due to the deep location of the ovary in the pelvis, it is difficult to detect early lesions through gynecological examination. Moreover, early ovarian cancer patients often do not have specific symptoms, leading to most patients being diagnosed at an advanced clinical stage, resulting in a low 5-year survival rate. Therefore, conducting early screening for ovarian cancer (hereinafter referred to as 'early screening') helps achieve early diagnosis and treatment, thereby reducing mortality. This consensus was discussed by the Gynecologic Oncology Committee of the China Gerontological Health Association and the Chinese Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. It refers to guidelines from the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN)[1-3], the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG)[4-5], the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF)[6], the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO)[7], the British Gynaecological Cancer Society (BGCS)[8], and Cancer Australia (CA)[9]. Based on high-level evidence-based medical literature, it was finally discussed and formulated for reference in clinical practice by clinicians.
