Application of Fire Dragon Can Combined with Eight Trigrams Abdominal Massage Therapy in Incomplete Intestinal Obstruction

Abstract：Objective: To explore the application effect of Fire Dragon Can combined with Eight Trigrams Abdominal Massage Therapy in incomplete intestinal obstruction (IIO). Methods: A total of 80 IIO patients admitted to Gaozhou People's Hospital from January 2024 to December 2024 were selected as the study subjects and randomly divided into control group and observation group, 40 cases each. The control group received conventional conservative treatment, while the observation group received Fire Dragon Can and Eight Trigrams Abdominal Massage Therapy on top of the control group's treatment. The pain level, symptom scores, time to symptom improvement, hospitalization duration, quality of life before and after treatment, incidence of complications, and recurrence rate were compared between the two groups. Results: After treatment, the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) score, individual symptom scores, and total score of the observation group were all lower than those of the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). The time for relief of abdominal pain and distension, recovery of flatus, recovery of defecation, recovery of bowel sounds, and hospitalization duration in the observation group were all shorter than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). After treatment, the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group Performance Status (ECOG) score of the observation group was lower than that of the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the overall complication rate between the two groups (P > 0.05). The recurrence rate of the observation group was lower than that of the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Adding Fire Dragon Can combined with Eight Trigrams Abdominal Massage Therapy to routine intervention for IIO patients can more effectively relieve pain, improve gastrointestinal function, has a high level of treatment safety, and can reduce the risk of disease recurrence.
