Clinical Observation of Self-Prepared Chinese Herbal Decoction Foot Bath Combined with Alpha-Lipoic Acid Injection in the Treatment of Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy
Abstract：Objective: To explore the clinical effectiveness of self-prepared Chinese herbal decoction foot bath combined with alpha-lipoic acid injection in the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN). Methods: Data from 131 DPN patients treated at the First People's Hospital of Zhumadian City from May 2022 to November 2024 were collected. Patients were divided into a control group (66 cases, routine treatment + alpha-lipoic acid injection) and an observation group (65 cases, routine treatment + self-prepared Chinese herbal decoction foot bath combined with alpha-lipoic acid injection) according to different treatment regimens. The clinical efficacy, nerve conduction velocity, hemorheological indicators, and incidence of adverse reactions before and after treatment were compared between the two groups. Results: The total effective rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, with a statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). After treatment, the motor nerve conduction velocity (MCV) and sensory nerve conduction velocity (SCV) of the median nerve and common peroneal nerve in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). After treatment, the whole blood high shear viscosity, plasma viscosity, and fibrinogen levels in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the overall incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P > 0.05). Conclusion: The combination of self-prepared Chinese herbal decoction foot bath and alpha-lipoic acid injection shows significant therapeutic effects in the treatment of DPN, which can improve nerve conduction velocity and hemorheological parameters, and has good safety.
