Effect of Fuzheng Tongling Decoction Combined with Cefdinir on Urinary Tract Infections in Patients with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) Stages 4-5 with Qi Deficiency and Damp-Heat Syndrome
Abstract:Objective: To investigate the effect of Fuzheng Tongling Decoction combined with cefdinir on urinary tract infections in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) stages 4-5 with qi deficiency and damp-heat syndrome. Methods: A total of 64 patients with urinary tract infections treated at Quanzhou Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2022 to December 2024 were selected as the study subjects and randomly divided into a treatment group and a control group, each with 32 cases. The control group received cefdinir treatment, while the treatment group received Fuzheng Tongling Decoction in addition to cefdinir. The renal function, TCM syndrome scores, and clinical efficacy of both groups were compared before and after treatment. Results: After treatment, the levels of blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and serum creatinine (Scr) in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group, and the estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) was higher, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). After treatment, the TCM syndrome scores and total scores of the treatment group were lower than those of the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). The total effective rate of treatment in the treatment group was higher than that in the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Fuzheng Tongling Decoction combined with cefdinir can improve renal function, alleviate clinical symptoms, and enhance clinical efficacy in patients with urinary tract infections due to qi deficiency and damp-heat syndrome in CKD stages 4-5.
