Clinical Effect Analysis of Baihu Decoction with Additional Ingredients in the Treatment of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus with Stomach Heat Syndrome
Abstract:Objective: To analyze the clinical effect of Baihu Decoction with additional ingredients in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) with stomach heat syndrome. Methods: A total of 64 patients with T2DM and stomach heat syndrome admitted to the People's Hospital of Xuchang City from January 2021 to December 2022 were selected as the study subjects and randomly divided into a traditional Chinese medicine group and a western medicine group, with 32 cases in each group. Patients in the western medicine group received routine Western medical treatment, while those in the traditional Chinese medicine group received additional treatment with Baihu Decoction with additional ingredients on top of the western medicine group's treatment. The treatment effects, glycometabolic indicators, lipid metabolism indicators, and insulin resistance-related indicators before and after treatment were compared between the two groups. Results: The total effective rate of treatment in the traditional Chinese medicine group was higher than that in the western medicine group, with a statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). After treatment, the levels of fasting plasma glucose (FPG) and 2-hour postprandial glucose (2h PG) in the traditional Chinese medicine group were lower than those in the western medicine group, with a statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). After treatment, the serum triglyceride (TG) and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels in the traditional Chinese medicine group were lower than those in the western medicine group, while the high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) level was higher, with a statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). After treatment, the homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) index and serum fasting insulin (FINS) level in the traditional Chinese medicine group were lower than those in the western medicine group, with a statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Baihu Decoction with additional ingredients has a significant effect in treating patients with T2DM and stomach heat syndrome, which can reduce blood glucose levels and improve lipid metabolism and insulin resistance.
