Study on the Effect of Sangju Decoction on Inflammatory Factor Levels in Patients with Community-Acquired Pneumonia (CAP) with Wind-Heat Invasion of the Lungs Syndrome
Abstract:Objective: To investigate the effect of the traditional Chinese medicine formula Sangju Decoction on patients with community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) with wind-heat invasion of the lungs syndrome. Methods: A total of 90 patients with CAP and wind-heat invasion of the lungs syndrome treated at Zhoukou People's Hospital from January 2022 to October 2024 were selected as the study subjects and randomly divided into a control group and an observation group, each with 45 cases. The control group received standard Western medical treatment, while the observation group received additional treatment with Sangju Decoction on top of the control group's treatment. The changes in traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores, serum inflammatory factor levels, clinical efficacy, and incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups before and after treatment. Results: After treatment, the traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores, serum levels of interleukin (IL)-4, IL-6, and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). The total effective rate of treatment in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). No adverse reactions occurred during treatment in either group. Conclusion: Sangju Decoction can enhance the therapeutic effect on CAP with wind-heat invasion of the lungs syndrome, alleviate clinical symptoms, suppress inflammatory responses, and does not increase adverse reactions.
