Effect of Tongluo Xiaosan Fuyong Decoction Combined with Conventional Western Medicine in the Treatment of Diabetic Peripheral Vascular Disease

Abstract：Objective: To investigate the effect of Tongluo Xiaosan Fuyong Decoction combined with conventional western medicine in the treatment of diabetic peripheral vascular disease (DPVD). Methods: A total of 86 patients with DPVD admitted to Zhaoling District People's Hospital of Luoyang City from January 2021 to January 2024 were selected as the study subjects. According to the random number table method, they were divided into a control group and an observation group, with 43 cases in each group. The control group received conventional western medicine treatment, while the observation group received Tongluo Xiaosan Fuyong Decoction treatment on top of the conventional treatment. The clinical efficacy, levels of serum inflammatory factors, TCM syndrome scores, vascular endothelial function, lower limb arterial blood flow parameters, and incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups before and after treatment. Results: The total effective rate of treatment in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, with a statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). After treatment, the levels of serum C-reactive protein (CRP), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), and interleukin-6 (IL-6) in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). After treatment, the serum nitric oxide (NO) level, lower limb arterial pulsatility index (PI), and mean blood flow velocity (Vm) in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, while the serum endothelin-1 (ET-1) level and resistance index (RI) were lower, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). No obvious adverse reactions were observed in either group. Conclusion: Tongluo Xiaosan Fuyong Decoction combined with western medicine can enhance the clinical efficacy of DPVD, inhibit the inflammatory response in patients, alleviate clinical symptoms, improve vascular endothelial function, promote recovery of lower limb arterial blood flow, and does not increase adverse reactions.
