Effect of Pediatric Massage Combined with Acupoint Patching on Symptom Improvement in Children with Functional Dyspepsia
Abstract:Objective: To explore the effect of pediatric massage combined with acupoint patching on symptom improvement in children with functional dyspepsia (FD). Methods: A total of 80 FD children admitted to Shixing County Maternal and Child Health Hospital from January 2022 to January 2025 were randomly divided into a control group and an observation group, with 40 cases in each group. The control group received routine treatment and nursing care, while the observation group received additional pediatric massage and acupoint patching intervention on top of the control group's treatment. The clinical efficacy, symptom relief time, and symptom scores before and after intervention were compared between the two groups. Results: The total effective rate of treatment in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, with a statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). The relief times for postprandial distension, early satiety, epigastric pain, and epigastric burning sensation in the observation group were shorter than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). After intervention, the symptom scores of both groups were lower than those before intervention, and the observation group had lower scores than the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Pediatric massage combined with acupoint patching can effectively improve clinical symptoms in children with FD, shorten the time for symptom relief, and provide a safe, efficient, and easily promotable traditional Chinese medicine intervention model for children with FD.
