Effect of Xiaqinglong Decoction Combined with Compound Methylxanthine Capsules on Traditional Chinese Medicine Syndrome Manifestations and Pulmonary Function in Patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease with Exterior Cold and Interior Drink Syndrome
Abstract:Objective: To investigate the effect of Xiaqinglong Decoction combined with Compound Methylxanthine Capsules on patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) with exterior cold and interior drink syndrome. Methods: A total of 80 patients with COPD with exterior cold and interior drink syndrome admitted to Wuzhong People's Hospital of Suzhou from January 2022 to January 2025 were selected as the study subjects and randomly divided into a control group and an observation group, each with 40 cases. The control group received treatment with Compound Methylxanthine Capsules, while the observation group received additional treatment with Xiaqinglong Decoction on top of the control group's treatment. The changes in traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores, serum inflammatory markers, pulmonary function, daily living ability, and incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups before and after treatment. Results: After treatment, the scores of traditional Chinese medicine syndrome, serum levels of high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), procalcitonin (PCT), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), and interleukin-6 (IL-6) in the observation group were all lower than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). After treatment, the values of peak expiratory flow (PEF), forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1), and vital capacity (FVC) in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, and the modified Barthel Index (MBI) score was also higher, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the overall incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P > 0.05). Conclusion: Xiaqinglong Decoction combined with Compound Methylxanthine Capsules can effectively alleviate clinical symptoms and inflammatory responses in patients with COPD with exterior cold and interior drink syndrome, improve pulmonary function, enhance daily living ability, and does not increase adverse reactions.
