Aesthetic Effects of Zirconia Full-Ceramic Crowns in the Repair of Dental Arch Defects and Their Impact on Periodontal Health and Masticatory Function
Abstract:Objective: To investigate the aesthetic effects of zirconia full-ceramic crown restoration for dental arch defects and its impact on periodontal health and masticatory function. Methods: A total of 68 patients with dental arch defects who visited the Pingdingshan Maternal and Child Health Hospital from January 2022 to January 2024 were selected as the study subjects. According to the different restoration methods, the patients were divided into an observation group and a control group, with 34 cases in each group. The control group received metal-ceramic restoration, while the observation group received zirconia full-ceramic crown restoration. The aesthetic effects, periodontal health conditions, masticatory function, and complication rates before and after surgery were compared between the two groups. Results: After surgery, the red aesthetic score (PES) and white aesthetic score (WES) of the observation group were higher than those of the control group, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). After surgery, the gingival index (GI) and sulcus bleeding index (SBI) scores of the observation group were lower than those of the control group, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). After surgery, the masticatory efficiency and occlusal force of the observation group were higher or equal to those of the control group, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). The total incidence of complications in the observation group was lower than that in the control group, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). Conclusion: Zirconia full-ceramic crown restoration is helpful in promoting the recovery of masticatory function in patients with dental arch defects, maintaining periodontal health, providing excellent aesthetic effects, and having fewer complications.
