Clinical Effect of Thoracic Paravertebral Block Combined with Subcutaneous Ozone Injection in the Treatment of Postherpetic Neuralgia in the Chest and Back
Abstract:Objective: To investigate the clinical effect of thoracic paravertebral block (TPVB) combined with subcutaneous ozone injection in the treatment of postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) in the chest and back. Methods: A total of 68 patients with PHN in the chest and back admitted to Zhengzhou Cigarette Factory Rehabilitation Hospital from June 2021 to December 2023 were selected as the study subjects and randomly divided into control group and observation group, 34 cases each. Both groups received routine oral medication treatment. The control group received subcutaneous ozone injection on this basis, while the observation group received TPVB on top of the control group's treatment. The analgesic effect [Visual Analog Scale (VAS) score], sleep quality [Self-Rating Sleep Scale (SRSS) score], treatment effectiveness, and incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups before and after treatment. Results: After 1 week, 2 weeks, and 4 weeks of treatment, both groups showed significant decreases in SRSS and VAS scores compared to pre-treatment, with the observation group showing lower scores than the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). The total effective rate of the observation group (82.35%) was higher than that of the control group (58.82%), and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the overall incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P > 0.05). Conclusion: TPVB combined with subcutaneous ozone injection can effectively relieve pain, improve sleep quality, and enhance clinical treatment efficacy for PHN in the chest and back, without increasing adverse reactions.
