Effect of Jianpi Yiqi Huoxue Decoction Combined with Pediatric Massage on Chronic Persistent Asthma Patients with Spleen and Lung Qi Deficiency Syndrome
Abstract:Objective: To investigate the effect of Jianpi Yiqi Huoxue Decoction combined with pediatric massage on children with chronic persistent asthma (spleen and lung qi deficiency type) and its impact on blood gas analysis indicators and TCM syndrome symptoms. Methods: A total of 108 children with chronic persistent asthma (spleen and lung qi deficiency type) treated at Luoyang City Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from December 2022 to December 2023 were selected as the study subjects and randomly divided into a control group and an observation group, each with 54 cases. The control group received conventional symptomatic treatment plus pediatric massage, while the observation group received additional treatment with Jianpi Yiqi Huoxue Decoction on top of the control group's treatment. The changes in TCM syndrome scores, pulmonary function, serum inflammatory factor levels, blood gas analysis indicators, immune function, asthma control status, clinical efficacy, and adverse reaction incidence were compared between the two groups before and after treatment. Results: After treatment, the TCM syndrome scores of the observation group were lower than those of the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). After treatment, the forced vital capacity (FVC), maximum voluntary ventilation (MVV), forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1), and peak expiratory flow (PEF) of the observation group were higher than those of the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). After treatment, the serum levels of C-reactive protein (CRP), interleukin (IL)-6, and IL-4 in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). After treatment, the arterial oxygen partial pressure (PaO2) and hydrogen ion concentration index (pH) of the observation group were higher than those of the control group, while the arterial carbon dioxide partial pressure (PaCO2) was lower, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). After treatment, the peripheral blood cluster of differentiation (CD) 4+ level and CD4+/CD8+ ratio of the observation group were higher than those of the control group, while the CD8+ level was lower, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). The total control rate and total effective rate of asthma in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the total incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P > 0.05). Conclusion: Jianpi Yiqi Huoxue Decoction combined with pediatric massage can alleviate clinical symptoms in children with chronic persistent asthma (spleen and lung qi deficiency type), promote recovery of pulmonary function, inhibit inflammatory responses, improve blood gas analysis indicators, regulate immune function, effectively control asthma, enhance clinical efficacy, and does not increase adverse reactions.
