Experience Analysis on the Diagnosis and Treatment of Phlegm-Stasis Syndrome Type Lung Adenocarcinoma Based on the 'Zhubei Jiao' Theory
Abstract:Lung adenocarcinoma is a common malignant tumor in clinical practice, and its treatment often faces challenges such as chemotherapy resistance and metastasis recurrence. Traditional Chinese medicine has shown advantages in improving symptoms and enhancing quality of life. Professor Jinyu flexibly applies Wu Youke's 'Zhubei Jiao' theory to diagnose and treat lung adenocarcinoma of the phlegm-stasis syndrome type, with unique insights. Professor Jinyu believes that the pathogenesis of this type of lung adenocarcinoma is consistent with the 'Zhubei Jiao' state characterized by 'deficiency of vital energy, invasion of pathogenic factors, and the entanglement of pathogenic factors and blood, forming a stubborn and inseparable condition'. The core lies in the invasion of pathogenic factors into the營血 (nutritive and defensive qi) and the difficult separation of pathogenic factors and blood. In clinical diagnosis and treatment, it is essential to focus on the severity and mutual entanglement of phlegm, stasis, toxicity, and deficiency, and establish the treatment principle of 'penetrating and resolving pathogenic toxins, eliminating phlegm and dispersing nodules, activating blood circulation and unblocking meridians, and reinforcing the body's vital energy to expel pathogens'. At this time, Wu's Sanjia San (Three-Shell Formula) should be modified accordingly. This formula contains three shells (softshell turtle shell, tortoise shell, earthworm, and Vitis lobata instead of pangolin scale) for softening hardness and dispersing nodules, unblocking meridians, and separating phlegm-stasis-toxin from the營血. Insect drugs enhance the effect of searching and removing pathogenic factors, and additional herbs for resolving phlegm, activating blood, and reinforcing the body are added according to the syndrome. Clinical practice shows that this method can effectively improve patients' symptoms and control tumors. Professor Jinyu's experience deepens the understanding of the pathogenesis of phlegm-stasis syndrome type lung adenocarcinoma and enriches the diagnostic and therapeutic thinking of traditional Chinese medicine in tumor treatment, which is worth learning.
