Efficacy Analysis of Hedyotis Capitata Hair Growth Gel in the Treatment of Seborrheic Alopecia
Abstract:Objective: To develop Hedyotis Capitata Hair Growth Gel by combining modern technology with traditional Chinese medicine, and to observe its clinical effectiveness and economic efficiency in treating seborrheic alopecia (SA) (damp-heat syndrome), providing reference for improving clinical treatment schemes. Methods: A total of 90 SA (damp-heat syndrome) patients who visited Shenzhen Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from April 2024 to September 2024 were selected as the study subjects. They were randomly divided into three groups according to a random number table: the minoxidil group, the Hedyotis Capitata Hair Tonic group, and the Hedyotis Capitata Hair Growth Gel group, with 30 cases in each group. The symptom scores and clinical efficacy of the three groups were compared, and cost-effectiveness analysis and sensitivity analysis were used for economic evaluation of the drugs. Results: After treatment, the scores of hair loss, greasiness, itching, and dandruff in all three groups were lower than before treatment. Moreover, the Hedyotis Capitata Hair Growth Gel group had significantly lower scores for hair loss and greasiness compared to the minoxidil group and the Hedyotis Capitata Hair Tonic group (P < 0.05). The total effective rate of the Hedyotis Capitata Hair Growth Gel group was higher than that of the other two groups (P < 0.05). Cost-effectiveness analysis showed that the cost (C) indicator of the Hedyotis Capitata Hair Growth Gel group (168.00 CNY) was higher than that of the minoxidil group (156.70 CNY), but much lower than that of the Hedyotis Capitata Hair Tonic group (1538.04 CNY), with the lowest cost-effectiveness ratio of 1.80. Sensitivity analysis showed that the results were stable and reliable. Conclusion: Hedyotis Capitata Hair Growth Gel can effectively improve symptoms such as hair loss, greasiness, itching, and dandruff in patients with seborrheic alopecia, and has relatively low medication costs.
