Effect of External Application of Compound Huangbai Liquid Combined with Methylsulfonylmethane Polysaccharide Ointment in the Treatment of Rosacea

Abstract：Objective: To investigate the effect of external application of compound Huangbai liquid combined with methylsulfonylmethane polysaccharide ointment in the treatment of rosacea. Methods: A total of 90 patients with rosacea admitted to the Chronic Disease Prevention and Control Center of Shunde District, Foshan City from January 2023 to March 2024 were selected as the study subjects. They were divided into three groups according to the treatment regimen: the Huangbai group, the polysaccharide group, and the combination group, with 30 cases in each group. Patients in the Huangbai group received external application of compound Huangbai liquid, those in the polysaccharide group received methylsulfonylmethane polysaccharide ointment, and those in the combination group received both compound Huangbai liquid and methylsulfonylmethane polysaccharide ointment. The clinical symptom scores, skin moisture content, clinical efficacy, and incidence of adverse reactions before and after treatment were compared among the three groups. Results: After treatment, the clinical symptom score of the combination group was lower than that of the Huangbai group and the polysaccharide group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). The total effective rate of the combination group was higher than that of the Huangbai group and the polysaccharide group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). After treatment, the skin moisture content of the combination group was higher than that of the Huangbai group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions among the three groups (P > 0.05). Conclusion: The combination of compound Huangbai liquid and methylsulfonylmethane polysaccharide ointment in the treatment of rosacea has good therapeutic effects and safety. It can repair the skin barrier through moisturizing effects, thereby improving skin lesions.
