Effect Analysis of Huanglong Zhike Granules Combined with Montelukast Sodium in the Treatment of Children with Cough Variant Asthma

Abstract：Objective: To investigate the therapeutic effect of Huanglong Zhike Granules combined with Montelukast Sodium on children with cough variant asthma, as well as its impact on airway function and immune function. Methods: A total of 100 children with cough variant asthma admitted to Zhengzhou Maternal and Child Health Hospital from December 2022 to December 2023 were selected as the study subjects. According to the random number table method, the children were divided into a control group and an observation group, each with 50 cases. The control group received Montelukast Sodium treatment, while the observation group received additional treatment with Huanglong Zhike Granules. The clinical efficacy, TCM syndrome scores, airway function, immune function, and serum inflammatory factor levels before and after treatment were compared between the two groups. Results: The total effective rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group (P < 0.05). After treatment, the TCM syndrome scores of the observation group were lower than those of the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). After treatment, the airway wall, airway lumen, airway cross-sectional area, and airway wall thickness of both groups were significantly reduced, and the observation group showed smaller values than the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). After treatment, the peripheral blood differentiation antigens (CD) 3+, CD4+/CD8+ ratio, and CD4+ values of the observation group were higher than those of the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). After treatment, the serum levels of matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9), interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-5, and procalcitonin (PCT) in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Huanglong Zhike Granules combined with Montelukast Sodium can significantly improve the clinical efficacy in children with cough variant asthma, alleviate clinical symptoms, improve airway and immune function, and inhibit inflammatory responses.
