Clinical Effect of Mangzhi Decoction Fumigation and Sitting Bath Combined with PPH on the Treatment of Hemorrhoids
Abstract:Objective: To investigate the clinical effect of Mangzhi Decoction fumigation and sitting bath combined with PPH (Procedure for Prolapse and Hemorrhoids) in the treatment of hemorrhoids. Methods: A total of 140 patients with hemorrhoids admitted to the Tong'an Branch of the First Hospital Affiliated to Xiamen University from March 2023 to March 2024 were selected as the study subjects and randomly divided into a control group and an observation group, each with 70 cases. The control group received PPH surgery combined with potassium permanganate sitting bath, while the observation group received PPH surgery combined with Mangzhi Decoction fumigation and sitting bath. The postoperative related indicators, pain levels before and after treatment, pain stress indicators, anorectal motility indicators, and incidence of complications were compared between the two groups. Results: The wound healing time, anal function recovery time, and hospitalization duration of the observation group were shorter than those of the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). After treatment, the VAS scores, serum prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), neuropeptide Y (NPY), and substance P (SP) levels of the observation group were lower than those of the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). After treatment, the anal resting pressure (ARP), rectal resting pressure (RRP), and maximum anal contraction pressure (MSP) of the observation group were lower than those of the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). The total incidence of complications in the observation group was lower than that in the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Mangzhi Decoction fumigation and sitting bath combined with PPH surgery can significantly shorten the wound healing time, anal function recovery time, and hospitalization duration of patients with hemorrhoids, improve anorectal motility indicators, relieve postoperative pain, reduce the level of pain stress, and have a lower incidence of complications.
