Study on the Efficacy of Fengliao Weichang Kang Granules Combined with Saccharomyces boulardii Powder in the Treatment of Norovirus-Induced Gastroenteritis
Abstract：Objective: To investigate the efficacy of Fengliao Weichang Kang Granules combined with Saccharomyces boulardii Powder in the treatment of norovirus-induced gastroenteritis. Methods: A total of 84 children with norovirus-induced gastroenteritis admitted to Longyan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from October 2023 to November 2024 were selected and randomly divided into a control group and an observation group, each with 42 cases. The control group was treated with Saccharomyces boulardii Powder, while the observation group received Fengliao Weichang Kang Granules combined with Saccharomyces boulardii Powder. The clinical efficacy, clinical symptom scores, immune function, serum inflammatory factors [interleukin (IL)-17, IL-8, transforming growth factor β1 (TGF-β1), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α)] levels, and incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results: The total effective rate of treatment in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group (P < 0.05). After treatment, the scores for all clinical symptoms in both groups decreased, and the scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P < 0.05). After treatment, the levels of serum immunoglobulins (Ig) M, IgA, and IgG in both groups increased, and the levels in the observation group were higher than those in the control group (P < 0.05). After treatment, the levels of serum IL-17, IL-8, TGF-β1, and TNF-α in both groups decreased, and the levels in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in the incidence of allergic reactions, gastrointestinal reactions, headache, and muscle pain between the two groups (P > 0.05). Conclusion: Fengliao Weichang Kang Granules combined with Saccharomyces boulardii Powder have a significant therapeutic effect on norovirus-induced gastroenteritis, can improve the immune function of children, and reduce inflammatory responses.
