Clinical Efficacy Study of Weijian Decoction Combined with Qingqi Huatan Pills in the Treatment of Lung Cancer Patients with Phlegm-Heat Accumulation Syndrome
Abstract:Objective: To investigate the clinical efficacy of Weijian Decoction combined with Qingqi Huatan Pills for the treatment of lung cancer patients with phlegm-heat accumulation syndrome. Methods: A total of 80 patients with phlegm-heat accumulation syndrome diagnosed at Luoyang Hospital of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine from January 2022 to January 2024 were selected as the study subjects and randomly divided into an observation group and a control group, with 40 cases in each group. The control group received conventional chemotherapy, while the observation group received additional treatment with Weijian Decoction combined with Qingqi Huatan Pills. The clinical efficacy, tumor markers, serum cytokine levels, and immune function of the two groups were compared. Results: There was no statistically significant difference in the objective response rate (ORR) between the two groups (P > 0.05). The disease control rate (DCR) of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, with a statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). After treatment, the levels of serum carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), carbohydrate antigen 125 (CA125), and cytokeratin 19 fragment (CYFRA21-1) in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). After treatment, the serum vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) level in the observation group was lower than that in the control group, while the serum insulin-like growth factor binding protein-7 (IGFBP-7) level was higher, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). After treatment, the levels of CD3+ and the ratio of CD4+/CD8+ in peripheral blood of the observation group were higher than those of the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). Conclusion: For lung cancer patients with phlegm-heat accumulation syndrome undergoing chemotherapy, the application of Weijian Decoction combined with Qingqi Huatan Pills can further improve clinical outcomes and enhance immune function.
