Clinical Analysis of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Treatment for 56 Cases of Acute Edematous Pancreatitis
Abstract:Objective: To explore the clinical value of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine treatment for patients with acute edematous pancreatitis. Methods: A total of 56 patients with acute edematous pancreatitis who were treated at Putian Overseas Chinese Hospital from January 2018 to December 2023 were selected as the study subjects. Their clinical data were collected and a retrospective study was conducted. The patients were divided into a Western medicine group (routine Western medicine treatment) and a combined group (routine Western medicine combined with Chaiqin Chengqi Decoction), with 28 cases in each group. The clinical efficacy, time for recovery of symptoms and signs, hospitalization duration, time for recovery of laboratory indicators, serum amylase and C-reactive protein levels before and after treatment, TCM syndrome score, and incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results: The total effective rate of treatment in the combined group was higher than that in the Western medicine group, with a statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). The time for disappearance of abdominal distension and pain, recovery of bowel sounds, and total hospitalization time in the combined group were shorter than those in the Western medicine group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). After treatment, the serum amylase and C-reactive protein levels, as well as the TCM syndrome score in the combined group were lower than those in the Western medicine group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the total incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P > 0.05). Conclusion: For patients with acute edematous pancreatitis, combining Chaiqin Chengqi Decoction with routine Western medicine treatment shows significant effects, shortens the time for symptom and sign recovery and hospitalization, improves clinical symptoms and laboratory indicators, and does not increase the risk of adverse reactions.
