Clinical Study on the Treatment of Neurogenic Bladder After Spinal Cord Injury with Abdominal Acupuncture Combined with Governor Vessel Moxibustion
Abstract:Objective: To explore the effects of abdominal acupuncture combined with governor vessel moxibustion versus conventional acupuncture in the treatment of neurogenic bladder after spinal cord injury. Methods: A total of 60 patients diagnosed with neurogenic bladder after spinal cord injury at Foshan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2020 to January 2021 were selected as the study subjects. They were randomly divided into a control group and an observation group, each with 30 cases, using a random number table method. In addition to routine rehabilitation treatment, the control group received conventional acupuncture, while the observation group received abdominal acupuncture combined with governor vessel moxibustion. Urinary flow dynamics indicators and clinical efficacy were compared before and after treatment between the two groups. Results: After treatment, both groups showed increased bladder compliance, maximum urinary flow rate, and maximum bladder capacity compared to before treatment, with the observation group showing greater improvement than the control group. Maximum filling bladder pressure and residual urine volume were lower than before treatment, with the observation group having less residual urine than the control group. The differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). The therapeutic effect of the observation group was better than that of the control group, with a statistically significant difference (Z = -2.344, P < 0.05). Conclusion: The clinical effect of abdominal acupuncture combined with governor vessel moxibustion in treating neurogenic bladder after spinal cord injury is better than that of conventional acupuncture, which can more effectively improve bladder function and enhance the quality of life of patients.
