Application Effect of Modified Dahuang Mudan Decoction on Perioperative Recovery of Patients After Laparoscopic Right Hemicolectomy for Colorectal Cancer
Abstract:Objective: To explore the application effect of modified Dahuang Mudan Decoction in patients undergoing laparoscopic right hemicolectomy for colorectal cancer and its impact on related inflammatory responses and gastrointestinal function recovery. Methods: A total of 60 inpatients with right-sided colon cancer treated at Zhangzhou Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from July 2023 to December 2024 were selected and randomly divided into a control group and an observation group, each with 30 cases. The control group received laparoscopic partial colectomy, while the observation group received oral administration of Dahuang Mudan Decoction after surgery on top of the treatment of the control group. The two groups were compared in terms of laboratory indicators, gastrointestinal function recovery, routine fecal examination, duration of abdominal tenderness after surgery, hospitalization time, pain level, and incidence of complications. Results: Six days after surgery, the serum C-reactive protein (CRP), interleukin-6 (IL-6), peripheral blood white blood cell count (WBC), and absolute neutrophil (NEUT) values of the observation group were lower than those of the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). The time for bowel sound recovery, postoperative flatus, first defecation, and gastrointestinal function score on day 6 after surgery in the observation group were shorter or lower than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the positive rate of pus cells in fecal examination between the two groups (P > 0.05). The duration of lower abdominal tenderness and hospitalization time in the observation group were shorter than those in the control group, and the visual analog scale (VAS) score on day 6 after surgery was lower in the observation group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the overall incidence of complications between the two groups (P > 0.05). Conclusion: The application of modified Dahuang Mudan Decoction can alleviate the inflammatory response and pain level in patients after laparoscopic right hemicolectomy for colorectal cancer, accelerate gastrointestinal function recovery, promote rapid recovery during the perioperative period, and does not increase complications.
