Clinical Effect and Safety Analysis of Banxia Baizhu Tianma Decoction in the Treatment of Primary Hypertension with Phlegm-Damp Obstructing the Middle Jiao
Abstract:Objective: To explore the clinical effect and safety of Banxia Baizhu Tianma Decoction with modifications in the treatment of patients with primary hypertension of the phlegm-damp obstructing the middle jiao. Methods: A total of 120 patients with primary hypertension of the phlegm-damp obstructing the middle jiao treated at Zhumadian Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from March 2020 to March 2023 were selected as the study subjects and randomly divided into a control group and an observation group at a ratio of 1:1. The control group received conventional Western medicine treatment, while the observation group received additional treatment with Banxia Baizhu Tianma Decoction with modifications on top of the control group's treatment. The blood pressure levels, vascular endothelial function, serum inflammatory factor levels, TCM syndrome scores, and incidence of adverse reactions before and after treatment were compared between the two groups. Results: After treatment, both groups showed lower diastolic and systolic blood pressure compared to before treatment, with the observation group showing significantly lower values than the control group (P < 0.05). After treatment, both groups showed lower levels of endothelin-1 (ET-1), von Willebrand factor (vWF), and intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) compared to before treatment, with the observation group showing significantly lower levels than the control group. The nitric oxide (NO) level was higher after treatment compared to before treatment, with the observation group showing significantly higher levels than the control group (P < 0.05). After treatment, both groups showed lower levels of serum C-reactive protein (CRP), procalcitonin (PCT), and interleukin-6 (IL-6) compared to before treatment, with the observation group showing significantly lower levels than the control group (P < 0.05). After treatment, the TCM syndrome scores of both groups were lower than before treatment, with the observation group showing significantly lower scores than the control group (P < 0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the overall incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P > 0.05). Conclusion: The application of Banxia Baizhu Tianma Decoction with modifications during the treatment of primary hypertension of the phlegm-damp obstructing the middle jiao can reduce blood pressure levels, improve vascular endothelial function and clinical symptoms, reduce inflammatory responses, and does not increase adverse reactions.
