Clinical Study on the Treatment of Diabetic Encephalopathy with Kidney Deficiency and Stasis Syndrome Using Yishen Jiedu Tongluo Decoction

Abstract：Objective: To investigate the effect of Yishen Jiedu Tongluo Decoction in treating patients with diabetic encephalopathy with kidney deficiency and stasis syndrome. Methods: A total of 80 patients with diabetic encephalopathy with kidney deficiency and stasis syndrome admitted to Ruzhou Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital from March 2022 to March 2024 were selected as the study subjects and randomly divided into a control group and an observation group, each with 40 cases. The control group received donepezil hydrochloride tablets, while the observation group received Yishen Jiedu Tongluo Decoction in addition to the treatment of the control group. The cognitive function, TCM syndrome scores before and after treatment, blood glucose levels, degree of neuronal cell damage, serum inflammatory factor levels, and incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results: After treatment, all cognitive function scores of the observation group were higher than those of the control group, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). After treatment, the TCM syndrome scores, fasting blood glucose, 2-hour postprandial blood glucose, glycated hemoglobin, serum cysteine aspartic acid protease-3 (Caspase-3), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin (IL)-β, and IL-6 levels of the observation group were lower than those of the control group, while the serum brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) levels were higher, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the overall incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion: Yishen Jiedu Tongluo Decoction for the treatment of diabetic encephalopathy with kidney deficiency and stasis syndrome can improve cognitive function, alleviate clinical symptoms, regulate blood glucose levels, reduce neuronal cell damage, inhibit inflammatory responses, and does not increase adverse reactions.
