Effect of Simvastatin Combined with Tanreqing on Sepsis Complicated with Acute Lung Injury

Abstract：Objective: To analyze the effect of simvastatin combined with tanreqing in the treatment of patients with sepsis complicated with acute lung injury. Methods: A total of 94 patients with sepsis complicated with acute lung injury admitted to Anyang Regional Hospital from May 2022 to January 2024 were selected as the study subjects and randomly divided into a control group and an observation group, each with 47 cases. The control group received simvastatin treatment, while the observation group received additional tanreqing treatment on top of the control group. The clinical efficacy, vascular endothelial function, whole blood cell count, inflammatory factor levels, respiratory function, and physical condition of the two groups were compared before and after treatment. Results: The total effective rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, with a statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). After treatment, the serum nitric oxide (NO) level of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, while the serum levels of endothelin-1 (ET-1), interleukin-33 (IL-33), plasma Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4), high mobility group box 1 (HMGB1), pulmonary vascular permeability index (PVPI), extravascular lung water index (EVLWI), Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) score, and Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation II (APACHE II) score were lower in the observation group than in the control group. All these differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion: The treatment of sepsis complicated with acute lung injury with simvastatin combined with tanreqing can enhance clinical efficacy, restore vascular endothelial function, inhibit inflammatory response, regulate respiratory function, improve physical condition, and promote disease improvement.
