Application Effect of Trigger Point Massage Therapy Combined with Chinese Medicine Hard Ointment Heat敷 in Patients with Periarthritis of Shoulder (PAS)
Abstract:Objective: To investigate the application effect of trigger point massage therapy combined with Chinese medicine hard ointment heat敷 in patients with periarthritis of shoulder (PAS). Methods: A total of 80 PAS patients admitted to Zhengzhou Orthopedic Hospital from May 2022 to April 2024 were selected as the study subjects and randomly divided into a control group and an observation group, with 40 cases in each group. The control group received routine intervention, while the observation group received trigger point massage therapy combined with Chinese medicine hard ointment heat敷 on top of the control group's intervention. The two groups were compared in terms of TCM syndrome scores, pain levels, shoulder joint function, and joint range of motion. Results: After intervention, the TCM syndrome scores of both groups were lower than before intervention, and the observation group was lower than the control group, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). After intervention, the VAS scores and PRI scores of both groups decreased, and the observation group was lower than the control group, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). After intervention, the pain level, muscle strength, daily life, shoulder joint range of motion scores, and total scores of both groups were higher than before intervention, and the observation group was higher than the control group, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). After intervention, the flexion, extension, internal rotation, and external rotation angles of both groups were greater than before intervention, and the observation group was greater than the control group, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). Conclusion: The application of trigger point massage therapy combined with Chinese medicine hard ointment heat敷 in PAS patients can improve symptoms, reduce pain, improve shoulder joint function, and increase shoulder joint range of motion.
