Observation on the Effect of Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupoint Patching Combined with Wax Therapy in the Treatment of Knee Bi Disease (Knee Osteoarthritis) with Stasis of Blood Syndrome
Abstract:Objective: To explore the clinical effect of traditional Chinese medicine acupoint patching combined with wax therapy in the treatment of knee bi disease (knee osteoarthritis) with stasis of blood syndrome. Methods: A total of 78 patients with knee bi disease (knee osteoarthritis) with stasis of blood syndrome treated at Xingguo County Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from October 2023 to June 2024 were selected as the study subjects. They were randomly divided into a control group and an observation group using a random number table method, with 39 cases in each group. The control group received routine basic treatment, while the observation group received traditional Chinese medicine acupoint patching combined with wax therapy. The clinical efficacy, pain level, knee joint function, serum inflammatory indicators, and incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results: The total effective rate of the observation group (94.87%) was higher than that of the control group (79.49%), with a statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). After treatment, the visual analog scale (VAS) scores of both groups were lower than before treatment, and the observation group had lower scores than the control group, with a statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). After treatment, the scores of morning stiffness, pain, and daily living ability of the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) and the total score of both groups were lower than before treatment, and the observation group had lower scores than the control group, with a statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). After treatment, the levels of serum interleukin-6 (IL-6), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) in both groups were lower than before treatment, and the observation group had lower levels than the control group, with a statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the overall incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P > 0.05). Conclusion: Traditional Chinese medicine acupoint patching combined with wax therapy has a significant effect in treating knee bi disease (knee osteoarthritis) with stasis of blood syndrome, which helps to alleviate the patient's pain, improve knee joint function, and reduce inflammatory responses.
