Effect of Peitu Shengjin Formula on Clinical Efficacy and Immune Function in Patients with Stroke-Associated Pneumonia
Abstract:Objective: To investigate the effect of Peitu Shengjin Formula on clinical efficacy and immune function in patients with stroke-associated pneumonia. Methods: A total of 60 patients with stroke-associated pneumonia admitted to Kunshan Rehabilitation Hospital from July 2022 to June 2023 were selected as the study subjects and randomly divided into a control group and an observation group, each with 30 cases. The control group received airway clearance techniques and conventional Western medical treatment, while the observation group received Peitu Shengjin Formula on top of the treatment in the control group. The severity of pulmonary infection, clinical efficacy, serum inflammatory markers, immune function, and quality of life were compared between the two groups. Results: After 7 days and 14 days of treatment, the clinical pulmonary infection score (CPIS) of the observation group was lower than that of the control group, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). The total effective rate of treatment in the observation group (96.67%) was higher than that in the control group (66.67%), with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). After treatment, the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), serum procalcitonin (PCT), and C-reactive protein (CRP) levels in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). After treatment, the CD3+ and CD4+ levels, as well as the CD4+/CD8+ ratio in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, while the CD8+ level was lower, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). After 7 days and 14 days of treatment, the Stroke-Specific Quality of Life Scale (SS-QOL) scores of the observation group were higher than those of the control group, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). Conclusion: Using Peitu Shengjin Formula for the treatment of patients with stroke-associated pneumonia can alleviate the severity of the condition, improve clinical treatment effectiveness, reduce serum inflammatory marker levels, and enhance patient immune function, which is worth further study.
