The Effect of Yangzheng Mixture on Symptom Improvement and Sleep Quality in Patients with Breast Cancer
Abstract:Objective: To explore the effect of Yangzheng Mixture on symptom improvement and sleep quality in patients with breast cancer. Methods: A total of 137 female patients with breast cancer who visited the First Affiliated Hospital of Hainan Medical University from June 2021 to July 2023 were selected as the study subjects. Clinical data were collected, and a retrospective study was conducted. According to the treatment method, patients who received conventional supportive therapy (including fluid replacement, liver protection, antiemesis, etc.) during chemotherapy were classified into the conventional group (58 cases), while those who received Yangzheng Mixture in addition to conventional therapy were classified into the combined group (79 cases). The symptoms, sleep quality, and incidence of adverse reactions before and after intervention were compared between the two groups. Results: After intervention, the TCM syndrome score of both groups was lower than before intervention, and the combined group was lower than the conventional group, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). After intervention, the scores for subjective sleep quality, sleep latency, sleep duration, sleep efficiency, number of nighttime awakenings, use of hypnotics, daytime dysfunction, and total score of both groups were lower than before intervention, and the combined group was lower than the conventional group, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). The total incidence of adverse reactions in the combined group (21.52%) was lower than that in the conventional group (44.83%), with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). Conclusion: Yangzheng Mixture is helpful in improving symptoms and sleep quality in patients with breast cancer, and has high safety.
