Efficacy of Ginkgo Biloba Extract Combined with Edaravone in the Treatment of Acute Cerebral Infarction and Its Effects on Serum sVCAM-1 and NSE Levels
Abstract:Objective: To analyze the efficacy of Ginkgo biloba extract combined with edaravone in the treatment of patients with acute cerebral infarction and its effects on serum soluble vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 (sVCAM-1) and neuron-specific enolase (NSE) levels. Methods: A total of 102 patients with acute cerebral infarction admitted to Zhumadian Central Hospital from March 2022 to April 2024 were selected as the study subjects and randomly divided into a control group and an observation group, each with 51 cases. In addition to routine treatment, the control group received edaravone treatment, while the observation group received Ginkgo biloba extract combined with edaravone treatment. The clinical efficacy, neurological function, serum sVCAM-1 and NSE levels, quality of life, and incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results: The total effective rate of treatment in the observation group (92.16%) was higher than that in the control group (76.47%), with a statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). After treatment, the NIHSS score of the observation group was lower than that of the control group, with a statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). After treatment, the serum sVCAM-1 and NSE levels of the observation group were lower than those of the control group, with a statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). After treatment, the SS-QOL score of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, with a statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). No obvious adverse reactions occurred during the treatment period in both groups. Conclusion: The application of Ginkgo biloba extract combined with edaravone in the treatment of acute cerebral infarction shows significant efficacy, can improve the neurological function of patients, reduce the levels of serum sVCAM-1 and NSE, enhance the quality of life of patients, and has high safety.
