Application of Acupoint Massage in the Rehabilitation Training of Limb Function in Patients with Motor Dysfunction After Stroke
Abstract:Objective: To explore the application of acupoint massage in the rehabilitation training of limb function in patients with motor dysfunction after stroke. Methods: A total of 100 patients with stroke and motor dysfunction who were treated at the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanyang Medical College from June 2021 to October 2023 were selected as the study subjects. They were randomly divided into a control group and an observation group using a coin toss method, with 50 cases in each group. The control group received rehabilitation training, while the observation group received acupoint massage in addition to the rehabilitation training. The therapeutic effects, TCM syndrome scores, upper and lower limb muscle strength scores, upper and lower limb motor function [Fugl-Meyer Assessment (FMA)] scores, neurological function [National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)] scores, and Barthel Index (BI) scores of the two groups were compared. Results: The total effective rate of treatment in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). After treatment, the TCM syndrome scores and NIHSS scores of both groups decreased compared to before treatment, while the upper and lower limb muscle strength scores, FMA scores, and Barthel scores increased. Moreover, the above indicators in the observation group were better than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Acupoint massage combined with rehabilitation training can effectively improve the TCM syndrome and motor function of patients with motor dysfunction after stroke, enhance their muscle strength and daily living abilities, and improve neurological deficits, showing significant effects.
