Efficacy of Xing Shen Jie Yu Decoction Combined with Fluvoxamine Maleate Tablets in the Treatment of Depression and Its Effect on Electroencephalogram
Abstract：Objective: To analyze the efficacy of Xing Shen Jie Yu Decoction combined with fluvoxamine maleate tablets in treating patients with depression and its effect on electroencephalogram (EEG). Methods: A total of 84 patients with depression who visited the Henan Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from March 2020 to May 2023 were selected and randomly divided into a control group and an intervention group, with 42 patients in each group. The control group received oral fluvoxamine maleate tablets, while the intervention group received Xing Shen Jie Yu Decoction in addition to the treatment of the control group. The clinical efficacy, negative emotions, EEG indicators, and incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results: The total effective rate of the intervention group (95.24%) was higher than that of the control group (76.19%), with a statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). After 4 weeks of treatment, the scores of Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA) and Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD) in the intervention group were lower than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). After 4 weeks of treatment, the normal EEG rate in the intervention group (71.43%) was higher than that in the control group (30.95%), with a statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). The total incidence of adverse reactions in the intervention group (11.90%) showed no statistically significant difference compared to the control group (16.66%) (P > 0.05). Conclusion: Xing Shen Jie Yu Decoction combined with fluvoxamine maleate tablets can enhance the therapeutic effect, effectively improve clinical symptoms and EEG indicators, and does not increase adverse reactions.
