Effect Observation of Integrated Treatment of Acupuncture, Tuina, and Buyang Huanwu Decoction for Lumbar Disc Herniation

Abstract：Objective: To explore and observe the clinical value of integrated treatment of acupuncture, tuina, and Buyang Huanwu decoction for lumbar disc herniation. Methods: A total of 50 patients with lumbar disc herniation admitted to Xuchang Renhe Orthopedic Hospital from August 2022 to August 2023 were selected as the study subjects. They were randomly divided into a control group and an observation group using a random number table method, with 25 cases in each group. The control group received routine treatment, while the observation group received an integrated therapy of acupuncture, tuina, and Buyang Huanwu decoction on top of routine treatment. The treatment effects, pain levels, lumbar function, hemorheological indicators, and quality of life were compared between the two groups. Results: The total effective rate of the observation group (96.00%) was significantly higher than that of the control group (76.00%), with a statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). After treatment, at 2, 3, and 4 weeks, the VAS scores of the observation group were significantly lower than those of the control group, with a statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). At 2, 3, and 4 weeks after treatment, the JOA scores of the observation group were significantly higher than those of the control group, with a statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). After treatment, the plasma viscosity, hematocrit, and red blood cell deformability index of both groups were lower than before treatment, and the observation group was lower than the control group, with a statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). After treatment, the SF-36 scores of the observation group were significantly higher than those of the control group, with a statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). Conclusion: The integrated therapy of acupuncture, tuina, and Buyang Huanwu decoction on the basis of routine treatment shows significant efficacy in treating lumbar disc herniation. It can enhance the therapeutic effect, ensure the good recovery of the patient's lumbar function, and actively improve the patient's hemorheological parameters and quality of life.
