Clinical Study on the Treatment of Cancer-Related Fatigue (Qi and Blood Deficiency Type) with Modified Bazi Tang Combined with Acupuncture and Moxibustion Therapy
Abstract:Objective: To observe the clinical effect of modified Bazi Tang combined with acupuncture and moxibustion therapy in the treatment of cancer-related fatigue (Qi and blood deficiency type). Methods: A total of 77 patients with cancer-related fatigue admitted to Luoyang Petrochemical Hospital from October 2022 to October 2023 were selected as the study subjects and randomly divided into a control group (38 cases) and an observation group (39 cases). Both groups received conventional symptomatic supportive treatment. In addition, the control group was treated with acupuncture and moxibustion therapy, while the observation group received modified Bazi Tang combined with acupuncture and moxibustion therapy. The efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine syndrome, degree of cancer-related fatigue, health status and sleep quality, cellular immune indicators, and treatment safety were compared between the two groups. Results: After treatment, the total effective rate of TCM syndrome in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group, with a statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). After treatment, the scores of all dimensions of the Piper Fatigue Scale (PFS) in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, with a statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). After treatment, the KPS score of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, while the PSQI score was lower, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). After treatment, the levels of peripheral blood CD3+, CD4+, and CD4+/CD8+ in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, while the CD8+ level was lower, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). There were no significant abnormalities in the three major routine tests (blood, urine, stool) or liver and kidney function indicators in both groups. Conclusion: Modified Bazi Tang combined with acupuncture and moxibustion therapy has a definite therapeutic effect on cancer-related fatigue, effectively improving TCM syndrome, reducing fatigue, improving sleep quality and health status, regulating the body's immune function, and does not increase adverse reactions.
