Clinical Effect of Compound Dachaihu Decoction Combined with Antibacterial Drugs in the Treatment of Acute Appendicitis

Abstract：Objective: To explore the clinical effect of compound Dachaihu decoction combined with antibacterial drugs in the treatment of acute appendicitis. Methods: A total of 80 patients with acute appendicitis admitted to Tai Ning County General Hospital from March 2021 to August 2023 were selected as the study subjects and randomly divided into control group and observation group, 40 cases each. The control group received conventional antibacterial drug treatment, while the observation group was treated with compound Dachaihu decoction on the basis of the control group. The efficacy, clinical indicators, levels of inflammatory factors, gastrointestinal function indicators, and incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results: The total effective rate of the observation group (90.00%) was higher than that of the control group (72.50%), with a statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). The time for body temperature recovery, pain relief, and hospitalization were shorter in the observation group compared to the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). After treatment, the levels of serum interleukin-6 (IL-6), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), and C-reactive protein (CRP) in both groups were compared, and the observation group had lower levels than the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). After treatment, the serum ghrelin levels in both groups were compared, and the observation group was higher than the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). The serum obestatin levels in both groups were compared, and the observation group was lower than the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P > 0.05). Conclusion: Compound Dachaihu decoction combined with antibacterial drugs can improve the efficacy, shorten the treatment time, reduce the level of inflammatory factors, and improve gastrointestinal function indicators in the treatment of acute appendicitis.
