A Case Report of Thoracic Disc Herniation with Foot Drop as the Primary Symptom
Abstract:Thoracic disc herniation (TDH) is a relatively rare spinal disease that may cause severe spinal cord compression symptoms. In some patients, foot drop is the initial symptom leading to medical consultation. Due to its rarity and atypical clinical presentation, it often leads to misdiagnosis or delayed diagnosis. This article reports a patient with foot drop caused by thoracic disc herniation, who was treated with posterior circumferential decompression combined with interbody fusion and internal fixation. Combined with the case report and literature review, this paper summarizes thoracic disc herniation causing foot drop, in order to provide clinical reference.
