Research Progress on the Composition of Thrombus in Cerebral Stroke and Its Prognosis After Endovascular Thrombectomy
Abstract:Endovascular thrombectomy is the main treatment for acute cerebral vascular occlusion, significantly improving the success rate of vascular reperfusion. However, achieving rapid and successful reperfusion remains a challenge. There are significant differences in thrombus composition among patients. If the relationship between thrombus composition and its mechanical properties and imaging characteristics can be determined in a timely manner, individualized adjustments to the thrombectomy strategy can be made according to each patient's thrombus characteristics. This review aims to summarize the current research progress on this issue. Differences in thrombus composition can affect its mechanical properties, leading to different outcomes after thrombectomy. Preoperative computed tomography can effectively distinguish thrombus composition through signs such as arterial hyperdensity, thrombus density, and contrast agent permeability, guiding subsequent thrombectomy strategies, thereby effectively improving vascular reperfusion rates, reducing perioperative complications, and improving patient prognosis.
