Clinical Characteristics and Preventive Strategies of Iatrogenic Ureteral Injury in Gynecological Surgery
Abstract:Iatrogenic ureteral injury is one of the serious complications of gynecological surgery. A history of pelvic surgery, endometriosis, and malignant tumors are high-risk factors for ureteral injury during gynecological surgery. Therefore, how to avoid ureteral injury during gynecological surgery is a problem that all gynecologists should pay attention to. By identifying potential causes and risk factors for ureteral injury during surgery, surgeons should strengthen their knowledge and training on the anatomy of the ureter and its adjacent organs. Preoperative assessment of patients, intraoperative vigilance, and the use of techniques such as dissection and separation of the ureter can help reduce ureteral injury. Postoperatively, close observation of high-risk patients and timely diagnosis and management of ureteral injury can reduce adverse outcomes. This article reviews the clinical characteristics and preventive strategies of ureteral injury occurring in different gynecological surgeries.
