Revealing the Uplift Mechanism of the Altun Mountains through Receiver Function Imaging with a Short-Period Dense Array
Abstract:The ongoing collision between the Indian and Eurasian plates during the Cenozoic has led to the uplift of the Tibetan Plateau and the formation of large intracontinental boundary faults (Yin and Harrison, 2000). The Altun Fault System is one of the largest strike-slip fault systems on Earth (Molnar and Dayem, 2010), extending 1600 km in length, consisting of the NEE-trending Altun left-lateral fault, the northern Altun fault, and the rhomb-shaped Altun Mountains sandwiched between the two faults (Cowgill et al., 2003).
