Experimental analysis and influence factors on preparation of prebaked anode from coal liquefaction asphalt

Abstract：Prebaked anode is an essential product in the production of aluminum electrolysis.The choice and prepa-ration process of the binder for prebaked anode will have a significant impact on the quality of the anode.In this pa-per,the composition and properties of coal liquefaction pitch and coal tar pitch,two types of binders,were com-pared.The results show that coal liquefaction pitch has a high softening point,high coke value,low ash content,low QI,low sulfur,and low benzopyrene.By using coal liquefaction pitch as the binder,increasing the mixing tem-perature with the prebaked anode aggregate,and directly using it as a carbon binder for aluminum electrolysis,a prebaked anode carbon block can be obtained by extrusion and firing.Its bulk density is 1.53 g·cm-3,the com-pressive strength is 23.5 MPa,the resistivity is 61.0 μΩ·m,the permeability is 2.01 nPm,and the performance indicators are better than those of traditional coal tar.The quality control of prebaked anode is a very important process,and there are many factors affecting the quality of prebaked anode.In this paper,the composition of coal liquefaction asphalt and the preparation process are briefly analyzed and introduced.
