Ecological Fish Farming Technology Experiment Using Silkworm Droppings in the Cool and Dry Areas of the Upper Jinsha River Valley
Abstract:There is a significant structural contradiction between the ecological fragility and limited resources of the cool and dry areas in the upper Jinsha River valley in Lijiang and the demands of rural revitalization, which urgently requires the introduction of resource-efficient and intensive agricultural models. The practice of raising fish with silkworm droppings, as a traditional circular agriculture technology, has been widely applied and achieved remarkable results in the 'mulberry-based fish pond' model in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River (Ma Rui et al., 2023). However, the adaptability of this technology in the high-altitude and hot-dry river valley areas of northwest Yunnan (with low annual average temperature and large diurnal temperature difference) remains insufficiently studied. This study conducts comparative experiments to analyze the differences between silkworm droppings fish farming and traditional feed fish farming in terms of fish growth indicators, changes in water quality parameters, and economic benefits. It evaluates the application potential and effectiveness of silkworm droppings fish farming in the Stone Township area, providing a more scientific, efficient, and environmentally friendly fish farming technical solution for the local aquaculture industry, ultimately promoting the sustainable development of the local aquaculture industry.
