Ecological and Efficient Mixed Breeding Model of Fenhu Crab and Macrobrachium rosenbergii
Abstract:Fenhu crab is a species of Chinese mitten crab that grows in the water area at the border between Jiashan County, Zhejiang Province and Wujiang District, Jiangsu Province. It is omnivorous and prefers to live in waters with excellent water quality and abundant aquatic plants. Compared with ordinary Chinese mitten crabs, Fenhu crab is characterized by purple whiskers and the term 'big and small claws'. Compared with single breeding of Fenhu crab, mixed breeding of a certain density of Macrobrachium rosenbergii that feeds on leftover feed of Fenhu crab can improve feed utilization rate, be environmentally friendly, and enhance the quality of farmed shrimp and crabs. This model is an effective measure to promote farmers' income increase and industry efficiency enhancement.
