Monitoring and Analysis of Aquaculture Wastewater from Concentrated Prawn Ponds in Kunshan City
Abstract：The main model of fisheries production in Kunshan City is high-standard pond aquaculture, distributed across 8 fishery towns. The main breeding species are crabs, white shrimp, and a small amount of conventional fish, supplemented by California trout, rosy crayfish, and Pacific white shrimp. The Jiangsu Province 'Pond Aquaculture Wastewater Discharge Standard' (DB 32/4043-2021) was released on June 3, 2021, and implemented on June 1, 2023. Kunshan City has continuously increased the renovation of aquaculture ponds, achieving dynamic full coverage of high-standard ponds, and promoting ecological and healthy aquaculture technology, laying the foundation for the discharge of aquaculture wastewater up to standard. To understand the changes in pond wastewater during the peak period of concentrated pond aquaculture in Kunshan City, this study monitored 17 key pond wastewater points from May to October 2024.
