Factory-based Recirculating Water Local Overwintering Breeding Experiment of Procambarus Clarkii
Abstract:According to reports, the comprehensive output value of Procambarus Clarkii reached 460 billion yuan in 2024, with a breeding area of 30.5 million mu and a production of 3.45 million tons, ranking fourth among freshwater aquaculture species (China Aquatic, 2025). Currently, the main breeding methods for Procambarus Clarkii include rice fields and ponds for self-breeding. Due to the common occurrence of inbreeding and the practice of catching large and leaving small, the offspring crabs are generally smaller in size and weaker in physique (Li Jianbin et al., 2024). At the same time, the breeding of Procambarus Clarkii is significantly affected by the environment. It stops mating in water below 15°C (Li Shengxuan, 2023). However, the average annual temperature in Yili region, Xinjiang is 10.5°C, and only the summer and autumn seasons have water temperatures that meet its spawning needs, which is far from meeting the local market demand. In view of this, this study relies on the shrimp and crab breeding base of the 68th Team of the Fourth Division of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, focusing on the technical bottlenecks in the breeding of Procambarus Clarkii, attempting to explore a factory-based recirculating water farming model, aiming to solve the breeding problems, build a low-cost, high-efficiency, ecological and energy-saving technical specification for local breeding of crayfish, and provide a mature, replicable technical solution for Procambarus Clarkii farming in other areas of Xinjiang.
