Ecological and Economic Value of Anodonta woodiana
Abstract:Currently, there are 1,023 species of freshwater mussels worldwide. They play an important role in the material cycle and energy flow of freshwater ecosystems. However, their ecological and economic values have not received enough attention (Strayer, 2017). Among them, the Anodonta woodiana, which originates from the Yangtze River Basin in China, is also known as the Chinese mussel, and is one of the most widely distributed freshwater bivalve mollusks in the world (Douda et al., 2024). Nowadays, Anodonta woodiana has spread to 46 countries in Asia, Europe, North America, and Africa (Chen et al., 2025).
